1900 - 1950: The Beginning Years
Morgan Marrow shows from the start it is a true “family business” enterprise.
1907
Morgan Marrow Company created
Shortly after our founder, M. H. Morgan bought the insurance accounts of James M. Cummings, he agreed to a business partnership with Harry Marrow, a prominent citizen of Hampton, thus creating Morgan Marrow Company.
1930
Second generation joins agency
J. B. Morgan, the oldest son of M. H. Morgan, joined Morgan Marrow Company, making it a true "family business" enterprise.
1947
Second son joins agency
Edwin J. Morgan, joined his father and brother in the agency after serving as a Marine Special Agent with the Home Insurance Company.
1950 - 2000: Growth and Expansion
Morgan Marrow expands operations and staff, sowing its roots.
1960s
John E. Sim joins agency
John E. Sim, a Marine Supervisor with Home Insurance Company, joined the agency following the death of the founder, M. H. Morgan.
- Fletcher Insurance Agency acquired
- Glenwood Limited and Batson Realty acquired
Third generation joins agency
John B. Morgan II joined Morgan Marrow Company and managed the Newport News branch until his transfer to the Hampton branch in 1981.
1970s
Edwin J. Morgan, Jr. joins agency
Ned Morgan joined the agency and managed the Gloucester operations. Ned currently manages the Virginia Beach branch and is the agency's Vice President.

- Farinholt Insurance Agency was acquired
1980s
Second generation Sim joins agency
J. Michael Sim joined Morgan Marrow Company and has worked in many of its branches; currently he works in the Hampton branch and serves as Secretary of the Company.
- Rawls Insurance Agency was acquired
- Norfolk Insurance Exchange was acquired
- Wornom Insurance Agency was acquired
- TICO Insurance Agency was acquired
- Billups Agency was acquired
- Browning Insurance Group was acquired
- Poquoson Insurance Agency was acquired
1990s
ESOP
In 1996 Morgan Marrow Company became an employee owned company with the creation of our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Our employees own a significant portion of the Company and share in its profits. Employees qualify for and vest in the plan based on time in service to the Company.
Second Sim son joins agency
J. Stuart Sim joined the agency to develop new business for the Virginia Beach branch. He is Treasurer of Morgan Marrow Company.
2000 - Present: Today and Tomorrow
Morgan Marrow continues to grow as an employee owned business.
2000s
Company moves to new headquarters
In 2003, the headquarters moved to the current location at 21 Manhattan Square in Hampton. The Company occupies 10,000 square feet of space designed specifically for our needs.
